Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour has been made an Officer of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - or OBE- in the list of honors that HRH Queen Elizabeth bestows every year on her birthday. She was given the honor for her "services to British journalism and British fashion in the US."
Anna is (as far a I know) a British citizen despite living in NYC these past twenty years as editor-in-chief of American Vogue. She grew up in London and served as editor-in-chief to British Vogue for a year before make the switch to American Vogue.
After hearing of the honor just yesterday Ms. Wintour released a statement, ""I am totally thrilled at this recognition, particularly since it coincides with my 20th anniversary as editor of American Vogue."
For my readers in the UK- does this mean she is now Lady Anna Wintour? I'd probably curtsy if I met her anyway just to be polite!
