It looks like the economy may have an effect on the Fall 09 shows after all. New York Magazine reported today that Betsey Johnson has decided to cancel her show this February at Bryant Park. She did however say that a presentation or a show at a separate location is still a possibility for Fall 09.
And other designers are following suit--DKNY is abandoning the tents and staging a presentation while Carmen Marc Valvo is also leaving Bryant Park for the first time in ten years. The Wall Street Journal is expecting more cancellations, scaled back shows, and alternative formats to be announced before February.
I'm disappointed about Betsey not having a show since they are always so fun and colorful.
But as long as Marc doesn't cancel anything and the shows in Europe remain basically the same I'll be okay.
