Erin Fetherston Fall 09

It was a fairy story at Erin Fetherston as life size dolls and nutcrackers marched down the runway. These frothy pieces are the clothes girls dream of for their dolls but I'm undecided if their big sisters and mothers would dream of them for themselves.
But one expects such whimsy from an Erin Fetherston collection the surprising bit were the impeccably tailored separates. Fetherston's collections are usually entirely comprised of darling dresses and so the mere sight of separates seemed like a revelation.
The collection also marked the first time she used leather in the form of a lambskin skirt and a beautifully tailored pair of tweed skinny pants. While others have felt that her foray into a slightly more masculine realm was the highlight I found her use of prints (especially stripes), fabrics and color to be more inspiring.

Plus, we all know I have a weakness for masks.

A Call Girl Moment?

Former call girl Ashley Dupre managed to snake her way into fashion week by grabbing a front row seat at a show she wasn't invited to! Ashley posed with designer Yigal Azrouel backstage and then by her seat before the show. Later, Yigal claimed to be furious that Dupre was allowed to his show and that he somehow wasn't aware of who she was when he posed for the photograph. In fact, following the show he released a press statement that he had fired the fashion PR company People's Revolution for "mismanagement"
So how did Ashley Dupre get in? Apparently, back during the scandal, she had met with Kelly Cutrone (founder and owner of People's Revolution) when she was looking for a publicist. They didn't end up working together but stayed in touch. Kelly told the New York Daily News that she had invited Ashley to a show that was scheduled at four pm (although she declined to name the show). Dupre apparently decided to show up hours early (the Azrouel show was at 11 AM) and managed to talk her way in. Kelly claims she was backstage and had no idea how Ashley snagged the seat.
Whatever happened the only person who managed to get the press attention that they wanted from the show was Ashley Dupre.
