Loomstate for Target

Just in time for Earth Day Target celebrated the launch of the Loomstate for Target collection last night at Big Red Sun in Venice, California. Rogan Gregory had a successful run with his high-end organic line, Rogan. So it isn't surprising that both he and Target were anxious to work together again-this time on his lower-end eco-friendly line, Loomstate.
The Target collection maintains Loomstate's signature California cool aesthetic with cute pelican printed shorts and tops plus amazing t-shirt dresses. Hopefully, the line maintains the quality of fabrics as well since they told Racked LA back in December that many of the 100% Certified organic pieces are silk & cotton or linen & cotton blends with soft-washed finishes.
There are a bunch of pieces that I think look great but there is a part of me that has to wonder--how eco-friendly can this line really be when its being mass-produced in much lower quality (based on price points. Loomstate starts at $200 while the Target version will top off at $44.99) by one of the biggest retailers in the world?

Boston Fashion, Boston Fashion Blog, British It Girls, Emma Watson, Emma Watson Style, Red Carpet Style, Karl Lagerfeld,

Remember last year when Emma Watson was rumored to be the new face of Chanel last year? Well, we all know that never worked out. But now rumor has it she's been signed as the new face of Burberry.

A Model Moment: Kate May Eat But She Doesn't Cook...

A few days ago I mentioned the rumor that Kate Moss planned to write a cookbook (some reports even thought a kosher cookbook!) but her rep told People magazine today that,
"There is no cookbook. We do not know where it came from but it is definitely false."
Kate recently also joked that if we believed everything in the tabloids then she'd have been pregnant for the last two years!

BTW--the picture above is the recently released campaign for Just Cavalli Spring '09 shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. What do you think? I normally find Kate's campaign work a little boring but there is something about this picture that I'm really digging.

Generation Progress Kick Off Event!

"GP is a Boston-based political action committee that works to raise funds for progressive Congressional candidates around the country; our belief is that young professionals in Boston are eager to be involved, but cannot necessarily afford fundraising gala tickets at $200/plate, and also that our donations can make a larger impact in regions where "Democrat" is not the norm, by being directed toward the campaigns of forward-thinking candidates who are facing conservative constituencies and opponents. Following these ideas, we have set out to host social events through which we generate donations to allocate to progressive campaigns.

Less than a year after its inception, the organization has donated $2,000 raised from young, hip Bostonians to Congressional campaigns nationwide during the last election cycle. Proceeds from our last event, an Autumn Wine Tasting, were sent to the Georgia runoff campaigns in support of the Democratic challenger to the Senate seat. We have hosted a private cocktail event, a wine tasting, debate-watch parties and picnics; we're looking to expand further this year.

Our next event is our first since the election, and is a celebration of the future of Generation Progress. We're very excited to have transitioned into 2009, revamped our logo, website and events calendar, and are gearing up to provide support for candidates in the 2010 midterm elections. The kickoff event (April 4, at The Savant Project in Brigham Circle) will feature live music, and each donation includes one free drink. We're thrilled to be spreading the word, and the event is shaping up to be a fabulous evening."

Blair Waldorf does not wear Uggs.

Someone sent the above photo to Fashionista this week. It shows the cool kids supposedly filming a scene for the show. But would Blair Waldorf, scorner of Tory Burch and lover of custom Valentino headbands, ever be caught dead in Uggs?
No. The answer is no. Never.
Don't get me wrong I live in them from November to March because I have no one to impress and the snow here sucks.
But Blair would never!

Between this and everything about Little J lately I hope my favorite addiction isn't going down the tubes.

A Model Moment: Kate Moss at TopShop New York!

I'm sure by now you all know that the first US TopShop is finally open in NYC!
The UK wonder brand's favorite model (and designer) Kate Moss officially opened the store this morning but she also made appearances at the many parties celebrating the store this past week.

The Motherhood

Lily Donaldson has a fantastic editorial in the April 09 issue of Vogue Paris (it has..yuck!...Scarlett Johansson on the cover). I think its a hilarious commentary on the state of modern young motherhood. Also, when else will we ever see Lily D with a belly?!

Ice.Com Review!

The wonderful people over at Ice.Com, a great online jewelry shop, were sweet enough to send me a beautiful pair of rice pearl and pavé diamond earrings! Aren't they lovely? I never buy myself nice jewelry (just super cheap costume pieces occasionally) mostly because I don't tend to wear a lot. But Nadia from Ice.Com discovered my weakness for pearls and I haven't been able to take the earrings off since they arrived!
Ice.Com sells fine jewelry at major reductions from their suggested retail prices making quality jewelry easily affordable. For example, one of my favorite pieces on the site is a 1/8 Ct diamond and 8mm freshwater pearl set in 14k white gold ring valued at $750. It's beautiful and elegant. The Ice price? $375! That is just about 50% off!
They arrived beautifully packaged in a white box with a sweet blue ribbon and the case is a beautiful, sturdy blue velvet box. It was great to have such a pretty package waiting for me when I got home. It really made me smile after a bad day.
I don't wear earrings very often so sometimes when I do I find them irritating or uncomfortable but with these earrings I've been able to wear them for hours, even days, at a time without any kind of discomfort. They're so light that I've forgotten that I've had them on and even fallen asleep while wearing them! It's probably because my poor pierced ears are used to crappy $3 earrings with god-knows-what for posts and now they're like "Ah! Comfort!"
Anyway, thank you so much to Nadia and everyone at Ice.Com for the earrings. I really love them and will definitely be going to Ice.Com in the future when I need (or just want) some new jewelry! If you're looking for something to boost your outfits definitely check out their Spring Style Guide!
In the meantime here are some of my pictures to check out!

Marc Jacobs Engaged!

WWD is reporting the very happy news that Marc Jacobs is engaged to Brazilian ad-executive Lorenzo Martone!
Marc is opening a multi-brand store in Sao Paolo this week and the couple is expected to turn up with matching engagement rings at the party!
I wonder what Jason Preston thinks of all this?
