Isn't Zoe Kravaitz's after-party outfit at subMercer on Monday night super cute?
I'm putting the time of this photo between 11:30 pm and 2 am.
But what is this?
Zoe Kravitz at 9 am on Tuesday morning. Hmm...isn't that outfit familiar? I would hate for paparazzi to catch me on a walk of shame! But at least she looks just as cute and beautiful as she did the night before!
Ashley Olsen (in The Row...of course!) was my favorite look of the night. From her sharp, chic hair cut to the necklace down her back she just looked iconic.
MK on the other hand....
I think the best description I heard was "Marie Antoinette after a rager." I think to the average person it doesn't work but personally, I like it. It's a huge improvement over last years disaster and that color is really suited to her. The Christian Lacroix Couture gown is beautifully made and in the HQ pictures you can see the stunning details and craftsmanship. I think in real life it probably looked dazzling but it just didn't work in pictures. It certainly is her personal style to a t and to be honest very few women could have pulled off Lacroix better.
The Proenza boys with Raquel Zimmerman last night pre-fight!
TMZ and Guest of a Guest are reporting that last night Kiefer Sutherland headbutted Jack McCollough (of Proenza Schouler) and broke his nose at the Rodarte after-party at subMercer!
So what happened? Kiefer claims that he saw Jack bump into Brooke Shields (a close friend who often wears Jack's designs) and knock her to the ground...without apologizing! When Sutherland approached him Jack reportedly pushed him which led to the headbutting! But here is the weird part...Brooke told TMZ today that Jack didn't do anything to her! Police reports have been filed and Jack was in the hospital until earlier this afternoon!
I don't know what the hell Kiefer Sutherland's problem is but the Proenza boys inspire a lot of loyalty among fashionistas so it's kind of a miracle that he escaped without being beaten with hundreds of pairs of Christian Louboutins!

Azzedine Alaia found out last week that he and his work are not featured in the MET's exhibit he's asked the seven women who he designed dresses for the event to not wear them tonight--and rumor has it that many of these women have decided not to attend in order to support Alaia!
Including the model who calls him Papa--Naomi Campbell!
It's hard to imagine an event dedicated to models without Naomi Campbell but her people released the following statement this afternoon:
“As Naomi has been the muse of Azzedine Alaïa for 23 years, she feels she doesn’t want to attend unless she can represent his work.”
This morning at the press preview Anna wore altered Marc Jacobs Fall 09
Tonight is the night I've been obsessively waiting for even though I'm in Boston and lack an invitation...the Costume Institute's annual gala at the MET to celebrate it's summer exhibit.
This year the exhibit theme is MODEL AS MUSE: EMBODYING FASHION curated by Harold Koda and Kohle Yohannan and opening to the public on Wednesday (May 6) until August 9th.
But of course the beautiful people get to see the exhibit early tonight while wearing the most amazing fashions on the planet and not eating their (probably) 10 grand per plate dinner.
Normally a huge star studded event I'm hoping that the red carpet focus will be on the models more than usual and not boring style-less girls like Jessica Biel (who will be wearing her boyfriend's line, William Rast. Thanks Justin Timberlake.)
Marc Jacobs (who is acting as host next to Anna Wintour tonight) is said to be dressing co-host Kate Moss in his own collection.
So who else is arriving with who and who will they be wearing? Here's what I've heard:
Narciso Rodriguez is taking (and dressing) Lily Donaldson.
Jessica Stam will be arriving with the Mulleavy sisters and wearing their line, Rodarte.
Gisele is ditching Tom Brady (for the night anyway) for John Galliano and one of his Dior gowns.
Diane Kruger will, of course, be in Chanel but is bringing her beau Joshua Jackson (also in Chanel) not Karl Lagerfeld.
Halle Berry will be in Calvin Klein while Jason Wu is dressing Jessica Alba (a definite downgrade from Michelle Obama, yes?)
And we can expect some red carpet antics from Isaac Mizrahi and his date, Coco Rocha!
Designers, supposedly, have been asked to customize their designs from gowns to minis so we can all get a good look at those long model legs.
Madonna and Kerry Washington will be in Louis Vuitton which makes sense since it seems that Madge's LV contract will be extended.
Also in Marc Jacobs? Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, and Winona Ryder.
Dior: Marion Cotillard, and Jessica Szohr
Burberry: Twiggy and Agyness Deyn
Stella McCartney: Liv Tyler, Kate Hudson and Kate Bosworth
There seems to be some confusion over what Helena Christensen will be wearing with some reports claiming Marc Jacobs and others Zac Posen. We'll have to wait and see tonight!
For me, the Costume Institute Gala is more exciting than the Oscars!
I'll be updating as pictures and info comes in tonight!
A few years ago, when SARS was spreading at a rapid rate in Asia, American Vogue published a photograph of a woman there wearing a Burberry surgical mask. Does anyone have this shot still?! If so please send it to me!
Lily is a huge Chanel addict and her dreams have come true because Karl Lagerfeld has asked her to star in the next Chanel handbag campaign! According to WWD--“She’s fun,” enthused Lagerfeld, who plans to turn his lens on the British pop star next week."
I was sad to read that former Vogue editor Catherine diMontezemolo passed away this week. For those of you who don't know she spent an unbelievable thirty-five years at American Vogue and then Lord & Taylor. At a time when many women didn't have "careers" she paved the way for them in publishing, and retail. She truly lived an amazing, inspirational life. My most sincere condolences to her friends and family.
Here is the obituary via The Huffington post:
"Di Montezemolo was a striking platinum blonde known for her grace, personal style and unpretentious manner. Described by friends as a woman who always had a smile on her face and a generous heart, diMontezemolo had a varied career that started at Vogue, where she spent 35 years and became a fashion editor in the Sixties covering European fashion. She later spent 12 years at Lord & Taylor, where she continued to review ready-to-wear shows and the European couture as well as American fashion."
I'm a terrible blogger! I forgot my blog's first birthday!
April 16th marked the 1 year anniversary of my blog! While my inspiration and passion has ebbed and flowed over the past year Bostonista (and its amazing readers!) has become a huge part of my life that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world!
348 posts, hundreds of comments and over 77,600 visitors later I just want to say thank you for all of your support!
Until quite recently Camilla Belle has flown mostly under the radar. I've been following her for a few years now thanks to her amazing personal style but her acting career has been shaky at best. Sure, she's graced the covers of a few magazines here and there and she's even won herself great reviews (specifically The Ballad of Jack & Rose) but most of her career seems to have been less than wisely thought out. The obligatory Disney Channel movie (Rip Girls) and teen horror flick (When A Stranger Calls) did little for her reputation as an actress and the big budget disaster that was 10,000 BC should probably never be mentioned again. But she's an achingly beautiful girl and I think she deserves a chance to prove herself beyond being the girlfriend of a Jonas brother, after all, she's IS the girl in Bostonista's banner!
So I was super excited to see her on the cover of May's Elle Italia! Check out the pictures and if anyone can translate the Italian into English I'd be eternally grateful!
