I have to say I was pretty impressed by the Oscar fashion. Sure, there were the usual boring moments or the oversexed looks but there was also a lot of beautiful, interesting styles walking down the red carpet! And to think I was ready to be disappointed!
Diane Kruger in Chanel!
Carey Mulligan in Prada. If you look closely you'll see that the details include scissors and spools! I love that she chose a fun, whimsical take on a traditional dress for her first Oscars. I think it really set the right tone!
Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab
Anna Kendrick also in Elie Saab
Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel. I know a lot of people really hated this dress but I liked the front as well as the crystal broach in the back. She took a risk and if it wasn't for the spacey hair I think she'd be on more best dressed lists. What do you think?
Zoe Kravitz in Alexis Mabille
and finally the effervescent Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten

So I know Skye Stracke has been working for a few years now but for some reason I just started paying attention to her this season!
I'm obsessed! She reminds me of fellow Perth native Gemma Ward except with a twinkle in her eye. Apparently she had a boob job this year, which is a little disappointing for a runway model, but I also think she'll be booking a lot of high profile jobs this year!
Check her out!

Wearable and instantly available to buy online?
Under Christopher Bailey Burberry is one of the only fashion collections that is making money off of its clothing- not its accessories or cosmetics or licensed deals but off of its actual clothing in this economy.
Burberry Prorsum streamed the collection live online and then offered a limited quantity of the pieces for pre-order online immediately following for three days! With a reported 30 million people watching worldwide that is a lot of potential sales.
So if the collection wasn't anything new or interesting it was definitely wearable.
The clothing was easy and pretty while still being practical for harsh winter weather. Of course the focus was on the amazing coats- what would Burberry be without coats? Military, furs, anoraks, and wool whatever your taste of style you could find a beautiful coat! Of course the over the knee boots were a force to be reckoned with too!
So I know that interior design isn't something I normally talk about here but lately I've been daydreaming a lot about what I want when I'm older and settled down with a family.
My biggest obsession? Fireplaces in the kitchen! Not cooking fireplaces (that would be a disaster!) but ones that add a cozy, friendly feeling to the kitchen!
Isn't the above one beautiful?!
I can just imagine a house full of kids sitting eating grilled cheese and soup on a cold winter afternoon with the fireplace glowing in the kitchen! Rather than being a place to rush through it helps turn it into a room where you want to spend time! Plus, even in a small space, it helps the room seem more open and sophisticated. It also gives a focal point that isn't an appliance. I love big armchairs and couches in kitchens too...especially if you have a fireplace there!
My two favorite examples of the perfect fireplace kitchen-
:Sigh: Aren't they lovely?
If you take that idea and put it into this you'd have my ideal kitchen--maybe some day I'll be so lucky!
If any of these kitchens belong to you I'm green with envy!

Jessica Stam landed the cover of the premiere issue of Vogue Turkey!
In this world economy, and with the "demise" of publishing apparently imminent, it makes me really happy to see that a new magazine is opening its doors!
