You probably know that my obsession with Kate Lanphear runs pretty deep.
I mean, she has one of my dream jobs (Style Director at Elle magazine) and her style is INSANE.
So I was super excited that she agreed to pose for Eddie Borgo's fall 2010 campaign.
She's so badass and the pics make it obvious why Eddie is a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominee for jewelry design!
(Thanks to Fashionologie for the pics!)
As you can see I've put up a new header.
I did it really fast and I'm not sure that I like it but I felt like I needed a change.
I'm sure you've noticed a lack of posts...I feel like I've done this type of note to you guys so many times...but I do have a chronic health condition and unfortunately have been very, very sick for the past month. I've barely seen my friends, let alone kept up with the fashion world- I've been too lethargic and stuck on the couch watching bad TV.
You'd think this would be the perfect situation for blogging but you'd be wrong- I get too upset when I don't have the energy to really put passion and focus into it.
So I thought I'd give you an update on where I stand!
Tomorrow night I'm "checking into" Beth Israel to get ready for lots of tests & stuff on Thursday.
So any prayers/positive energy/sweet thoughts you send my way will be much appreciated!
Hopefully, by the time NY Fashion Week rolls around I'll be up to my usual snarky play-by-plays, and in depth reviews of the shows- those are what I most enjoy writing so I'm looking forward to that!
On an unrelated note- The Rachel Zoe Project premiered tonight and can I just say that the show is so much better without that brat Taylor Jacobson? I could never really watch it before because I'd get too upset about that ungrateful, bitch having my dream job and having the audacity to complain about it. I know there are two sides to every story, and obviously the show has edited her in a certain light for a few years now which kind of perfectly sets her up as the bad guy thief but I don't think the representation was all that far-fetched.
Are you guys pro-Taylor or do you think as highly of her as I do?

I've been wanting to feel more connected to the fashion blogging community because I do find a lot of inspiration in what my peers are doing and want to become better friends with them!
I joined the Independent Fashion Bloggers Network when I started blogging and while I read their advice articles fairly regularly I've never really participated in the community.
I'm trying to change that and one way I can think of is participating in IFB's weekly Links A La Mode round up.
Couture Today: An Exploration
Edited by: Ann Colville Somma of Holier than Now
Couture: clothes painstakingly custom-made from the finest materials; alternatively, something Juicy - or even Filthy. It's hard not to chafe at the degradation of the term, which is technically reserved for members of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture (houses that create made-to-order pieces for private clients, amongst other criteria). Looking at creations recently sent down the runways, it's sad to think artisanal techniques like hand beading may not survive in a world of rhinestoned terry sweatsuits.
But in fact, the handmade movement is ever gaining steam with the support of many bloggers. "Couture" may be associated with impossibly high prices, but in your own hands it's an affordable way to obtain one-of-a-kind style. This week, review Couture Week round ups from The Well-Appointed Catwalk, La Chanelfile and more - then become your own private client, with tips from Fashion Butter, The Fashion Planner, and Twitch Vintage.

For a while it seemed as though Cintia Dicker's modeling career was over but over the past year I've seen the freckled redhead from Brazil popping up in unexpected places.
And now Cintia's comeback has been cemented by her gorgeous, editorial in the new French Marie Claire.

If you were a glamorous IT girl in 1920s Paris JPG's fall/winter 2010 haute couture collection would be your ultimate dream wardrobe. It was certainly Dita Von Teese's idea of heaven- she even graced the runway twice! I'm sure that Lady Gaga has already placed an order for all of that insane head wear!
For me this collection was just IT for haute couture this season. Yes, it has a lot of black but it was also exquisite, classic, Parisian, chic, sexy and perfect.
I have nothing bad to say...I'm too busy drooling!
Thanks to Now Fashion for the pictures!

FYI: I had written a really amazing review for this collection. I saved multiple drafts as I was writing. Unfortunately, I saved them to blogger and when I went to "publish" I got an "error" message. This is probably only the second time this has happened in the three years I've been using it but I'm still pissed off.
