Milan Fall/Winter 2011: Versace!

I have a love/hate relationship with Versace.
I love the history of the house. I hate how overtly sexual most of the pieces are.
I love Gianni. I go back and forth on Donatella.
So I didn't watch the live stream today.

I have to say this collection felt....different.
It was far less about sex appeal than usual which was a good thing.
I'm fairly certain that the floral prints were lifted from the Versace archives.
The minimal baroque theme ran through out and felt like a weak attempt at Prada's spring collection.

There was still some signature Versace here- tight dresses, leather, super high heels, and feathery fringe! Plus, the coats were beautifully constructed. I could have done without some of the color combinations- purple and green remind me of cartoon dragons.

Milan F/W 2011: Gucci!

7os glamour at Gucci!
Color, big hats, even bigger sunglasses, lots of fur!
A little bit tacky. A little bit fabulous.

London Fashion Week F/W 2011

London is AWASH in color!!
If Matthew Williamson and Sass & Bide are any indication LOUD prints in lady like shapes will be all the rage in the fall!

Lets do a quick round up of the shows so far!

Acne:
This collection wasn't for me but these two looks were standouts.

Jonathan Saunders:
I could see some Prada but I felt that Saunders stayed pretty true to his own aesthetic while popping in some polish.

Matthew Williamson:
This is very much a Matthew Williamson collection. Sexy, colorful, covetable.
I like that it actually LOOKS like a fall/winter collection- very cozy without losing an an inch of style.

Mulberry:
Mulberry is hands down my favorite collection out of London so far!
I always forget that Mulberry is not just an accessories company. They have such a massively popular handbag line that its easy to overlook RTW but not this time! A little bit of British school girl mixed with color, fantastic coats and to-die-for accessories!

Sass & Bide:
As a whole, I didn't like this collection. It wasn't a winter collection- which makes sense as the label is Australian and has a different season schedule than we do. But it felt like they were trying too hard to make it a "global" influence collection. It was far too literal for my tastes. That said, I'd happily wear any of these three looks!

Marchesa Fall Winter 2011

If I'm ever invited to the Oscars I'll be wearing this:
<span class=
Since that probably won't ever happen I'll settle for it as a wedding dress.
Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman claimed Miss Havisham as inspiration this season.
It read a little literal- but its all so beautiful I can't fault them!
