Hunger Games Day 4 Peeta Mellark

I've already got my tickets for The Hunger Games on Friday night- do you?
Four days to go and today I thought we'd look at District 12's best artist, Peeta Mellark.

So which real life designer do I think is the most like Peeta?
Only Lanvin's Alber Elbaz could come close.

The Hunger Games Day 5 Effie Trinket

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with The Hunger Games.
The movie version is being released on Friday and, even though I still think the part should have gone to Hailee Steinfeld, I'm finally coming around to Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.

Bostonista Obsessions: CC Skye

Lately, CC Skye's jewelry collection has been spot on for me.
She just has an uncanny ability to turn the biggest trends into covetable, wearable pieces.
Right now I'm lusting after the Neon Multi Chain necklace.

Wouldn't it look amazing with a plain white tee?

Sponsored Post: Date Night Denim

This series is brought to you by Levi’s® Curve ID. Find your custom fit at Levi’s® stores or Levi.com

Oh first dates.
You never quite know what to expect, you have a friend ready to call with an "emergency", and you've thrown something on without a moment's thought and just happen to look incredibly beautiful and charming.

Yeah, right.

In my experience jeans are appropriate for most dates, unless he's taking you to the Capitol Grille and then whose trying too hard?

For a big night out nothing is sexier than a pair of dark skinny jeans that perfectly hug every curve.
I love Levi's Modern Bold Curve skinny jeans in infinite because of its defined waist and fit.

If you want to leave him drooling pair them with Rachel Zoe's Farrow Bow Halter in black.

Complete the bombshell ensemble with a chunky bracelet and a pop of color like these red Kate Spade pumps.

Whats your go-to first date outfit?

What I'm Wearing...

I just bought this adorable ASOS midi-dress for a wedding at the end of March.
I'm a little worried that it isn't fancy enough but I thought with some quick styling it would look nice for an early spring wedding.

I was thinking of pairing it with these on sale Manolo Blahnik's ($169!!!!) to dress up a bit.

What do you think?

Worst Dressed Oscar 2012

From my pick for the Golden Globe's Best Dressed
to...
...this.
My Oscar worst dressed? By far Shailene Woodley in Valentino.

Beyond the fact that it's too plain for the Academy Awards she's just not old enough for it.
This is a dress for someone like Meryl Streep to wear to the SAGs; It's not a starlet's first Oscar moment dress!

It also just doesn't suit her hippie-"I'm studying to be an herbalist" personality.

Reiss x Bostonista!

Reiss London on Newbury St

I was so excited when one of my favorite labels, Reiss, reached out to talk about collaborating!

The British brand is a favorite of Beyonce and Anne Hathaway but has gained a huge following recently thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
(William & Kate's official engagement photo!)

Kate created a Reiss frenzy when she wore their Nannette dress ($325) in her official engagement photo back in December 2010. Since then, she's worn their dresses periodically, meeting the Obama's in the Shola dress ($340) and re-wearing the Nannette while on tour in Canada.

While Reiss is known for its impeccable tailoring and sleek, elegant frocks they also have a sense of fun with bright colors,  sumptuous leather jackets, and on-trend pieces like maxi skirts.

Reiss's Spring 2012 collection mixes old Hollywood glamour with the best of 90s minimalism- clean lines, girlish prints, and slouchy knits.

On Wednesday night I headed out to the Reiss store (132 Newbury St) to preview the collection for myself.

I'm not usually a big fan of maxi skirts but the brilliant color and print pulled me in! It was also light weight (maxis often feel very heavy and fussy to me) and so comfortable! Paired with a fitted leather jacket the outfit has edge and works for day or night and is a great way to transition into spring looks!

Next, I popped on the very Middleton-ish Bridge dress in firebrick ($340) and felt incredibly elegant indeed!
The v-neck back, and cowl neck front help to give the shift dress shape and enhanced the silhoutte. I also popped on Ashton Cut Out heels in cappuccino ($245) which have a great gold bar peeping out around the front. For shoes that were a size too small they were comfortable and incredibly easy to walk in so I can only imagine how magnificent they would have been in the right size!

Next, I tried on the Cherish fitted pencil skirt ($180). I had been dying to get my hands on a striped skirt since seeing one on another blogger. I was surprised at how flattering it was on her and decided I needed to try one on myself!
First, I paired it with the lilac Tiara blouse ($245) because I love mixing prints but I decided it really needed something that POPS!

So I pulled out the Latina tank in firebrick ($115) because who doesn't love orange with black and white?
To pull the look together I threw on the Trixie fitted jacket ($360) because I loved the lapel and how structured it was over a very loose top.  There was something very school  boyish about the blazer that really appeals to me. Perfect for a fun office!

Lastly, I fell head over heels in love with the Magda dress ($360).
I'm obsessed with this dress. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it!
It fit perfectly and even though its made from a mohair and wool it was light and breathable.
The instant I put it on the fabulous cut and perfectly placed seaming made me feel like a shapely, sophisticated woman and since I usually still feel like a kid it was sort of empowering!
Don't you just love the deep v-neck?
I paired it with the same Ashton heels and this adorable DVF-like BeeBee clutch ($210)

All in all I love Reiss's collection for spring. The prices are in the contemporary luxury level but the fabrics and cuts are so brilliant that you can immediately tell these pieces are going to last and are well worth it.

On Thursday night (3/1) you'll want to head over to Reiss for a runway show and shopping party hosted by Boldfacers! I'll be there and the women's looks have been styled by my favorite fellow Boston blogger, Renata from Scorpion/Disco

NYFW FW 2012: Reem Acra

I am not too big on womenswear...so I had never heard of Reem Acra until I was invited to (cover) the show (for Bostonista). Turns out the collection was INCREDIBLE! I really liked most of the pieces in the collection.

Everything was very luxurious...including the runway which was switched from the typical white to an extra shiny black. The models were very beautiful and kept simple in order to attract more attention to the garments themselves.

I will definitely be on the lookout for Reem Acra from now on.

Christian Siriano FW 2012

Please help me welcome guest blogger, Michael Tornato of The Trendy Dwarf, to Bostonista!
Michael, along with Jessica Richards, helped me out when I had to cancel my trip down to New York at the last minute for fashion week by covering the shows for me!

Christian Siriano's collection was nothing like his previous collections.
This one was very muted and elegant while his previous collections are full of patterns. I heard some people outside of the show debating whether this was a good thing or not.

(Bostonista: Personally, this leather jacket with pink dress is my favorite look from this collection!)

Personally, I love the collection. It is a break from what we typically see from Siriano. From a commercial point of view it is very easy to sell to buyers and people. I wonder what his inspiration was this season? Overall...this was a very solid collection by Christian Siriano!
